Mat
Pilates Classes
Pilates classes are a favorite at our
studio. Unlike other facilities, which charge additional
for pilates, we include pilates in our Unlimited Program,
or you can choose to take individual pilates classes.
We believe that a combination of our classes provides
a complete, balanced workout and toned body.
Mat classes consist of a series of very specific movements, which connect the core (or powerhouse) of the body to your extremeties. The movements are precise and fluid, helping to lenghten your body and and create strength.
Proper breathing techniques are used to cleanse the bloodstream, as well as to help you control your movements. By working all of your muscles simultaneously and continually switching the movements, it helps to build muscle tone and stamina.
"I was having regular tension/pain in my neck and shoulder area. Since I am doing pilates consistently, I am not having any tension pain. RELIEF!" SF, Pilates client

"Before pilates, I had back problems on a regular basis - to the point of not being able to walk. Pilates classes and the reformer have strengthened my abs and helped me to remain stretched out so my back pain and problems are not a problem anymore. Aviva's help in stretching muscles has been outstanding. I just recently ran in the Boston Marathon and felt great." CB, Pilates client
Invented
in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, Pilates
was created by combining Eastern modes of exercise such
as Yoga and Tai Chi with Western practices such as aerobics
and weight training. “Pilates is a movement
technique as well as a lifelong learning process of
training your body with an expectation toward health
and wellness.” Joseph Pilates believed that since
the mind built the body, training the physical in this
way sharpens the mental self, as well.
