  • Excerpt from essay
“Imagine you are offered a four year commitment that will conduct both physical and emotional abuse on you and consume every moment of your precious free time, all while enduring high school. Yet it will give you character, friends so close that they could provide as family, skills you could have never dreamed to learn, and a passion that will last you the rest of your life. What do you say? Welcome to the Pompon team.”

  • Excerpt from essay
“Pom has set such a great foundation for anything life can throw at me.
I cannot imagine surviving high school without the friends and belonging that pom has given me. I know that I will hold onto the lessons and memories from pom for the rest of my life. Overall, it was one of the most positive experiences in my life.”

  • Excerpt from essay
“All in all, because of this sport, I have grown in absolutely every aspect of my life. In order to keep the tradition of excellence, I know that working hard isn’t the only factor that comes into play. Keeping a positive attitude, being respectful to each other and moving forward as one ultimately conquers all challenges as a team, or an individual, is faced with throughout any journey .”

  • Excerpt from essay
“Pompon is much more that just another sport to me. Not only has it incorporated my love of performing, but has also challenged me with leadership roles, responsibility, commitment, and the meaning of hard work.”

  • Excerpt from essay
“Pompon is the one sport I have done where dedication is so vital to the success of the team. I had never participated in a sport where you literally needed each individual person in order to have a productive practice.”

Nancy Meadows Memorial Scholarship

Nancy Meadows was a long-time pompon coach, who continued her love for the sport of pompon as an Administrative member of the Mid American Pompon staff. Nancy was a mentor to coaches, campers, and Mid American staff members. After a battle with breast cancer, Nancy passed away in 2006. Nancy’s husband, Dr. Robert Meadows has graciously created the Nancy Meadows Memorial Scholarship in memory of his wife, and her dedication to the sport of pompon. Nancy was a firm believer in sportsmanship and teamwork, and believed that Mid American Pompon’s overnight summer camps were an integral part of the pompon team experience. Several full camp scholarships will be awarded each year. Applications must be submitted by a coach.
